Perth and Toronto don't always appear in the same sentence. One is the operational heart of global resource development. The other is the engine of mining finance. This partnership brings them together.
On 24 April 2026, the Perth Critical Minerals Platform (PCMP) and the Critical Minerals Institute (CMI) announced a strategic partnership — one that connects two of the most influential centres in the global critical minerals ecosystem.
Perth is where the minerals come from. It is the operational engine of resource development — home to more listed critical minerals companies than any other city in the world, and the second-largest location for physical critical mineral trade after Shanghai. PCMP is headquartered here because this is where the intelligence originates.
Toronto is where the capital comes from. Bay Street is the global epicentre of mining finance — home to nearly 40% of the world's publicly listed mining companies and a dominant source of exploration and development funding. CMI was built here, connecting capital markets participants, policymakers, and industry leaders through its monthly Masterclasses, weekly Critical Minerals Report, and board-level advisory services.
Until now, those two worlds operated largely in parallel.
The collaboration brings together CMI's global network with PCMP's data-driven intelligence platform — creating a direct link between strategic insight and real-time market analytics.
"CMI was built to connect capital, policy, and industry at the highest levels," said Tracy Hughes, CEO, Director, and Founder of the Critical Minerals Institute. "By aligning with the Perth Critical Minerals Platform, we are extending that mandate into one of the world's most important jurisdictions. Together, we are strengthening the infrastructure of insight required to navigate an increasingly complex, geopolitically charged supply chain environment."
Mark A. Andrich, Founder of PCMP and Founder & CEO of Sustainable Platform, added: "The Perth Critical Minerals Platform was created to bring clarity, transparency, and structure to a market that is often fragmented and opaque. Partnering with the Critical Minerals Institute allows us to bridge real-time market intelligence with high-level strategic dialogue, ultimately enabling better decision-making across the entire value chain."
Joint initiatives will include enhanced data integration, thought leadership, and participation across CMI's flagship programming — including CMI Summit 5, The New Critical Minerals Economy, taking place 13–14 May 2026 in Toronto.
The critical minerals supply chain sits at the intersection of economics, geopolitics, and the long-term stewardship of the earth's resources. Getting it right — ensuring supply chains are transparent, resilient, and grounded in accurate intelligence — matters well beyond the bottom line.
Bringing together the intelligence of Perth and the capital networks of Toronto is one step toward that.
